White flare used in beach search
21/03/2024
A white flare was used by Southend-on-Sea RNLI and Coastguards in an extensive beach search one evening in February.
A member of the public said they had seen a person on the sand and mud near Thorpe Hall Avenue, Thorpe Bay and Southend-on-Sea RNLI and HM Coastguard Southend On Sea carried out a search.
Southend-on-Sea RNLI launched its hovercraft Vera Ravine, firing a white flare to aid the search.
Rescue 163 Coastguard Search and Rescue Helicopter from Lydd assisted in searching the large area of the low tide sand and mud flats. But with nothing found, the search was called off.
