Trio rescued by RNLI in Ireland as flare lights water

A trio has been rescued in Ireland after a white flare was used to illuminate the water at night.
Skerries RNLI rescued the trio, two men and a woman who had been cut off by the tide and were in the water south of Balbriggan harbour.
Dublin Coast Guard received a 999 call from the trio early one morning in May. Skerries RNLI launched the Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Louis Simson.
The casualties had found their way onto a rocky outcrop. The lifeboat crew deployed a white parachute flare to illuminate the area.
Two volunteer crew assisted the trio into the lifeboat. They were safely returned to dry land at the lifeboat station in Skerries.
Volunteer Lifeboat Press Officer for Skerries RNLI, Gerry Canning says, “Our volunteer crew remain on call 24/7 throughout the Coronavirus pandemic, and they showed again tonight that they are always ready to drop whatever they are doing and respond to any call for help.”
