Successful search for person in distress
07/12/2020
A person in distress in Derry, Northern Ireland, has been taken to hospital after flares helped a search in darkness.
Early one November morning, Foyle Search and Rescue was alerted by the Police Service of Northern Ireland after reports that a person was in distress.
Foyle Search and Rescue responded with a mobile boat and shore teams. Also involved in the operation was Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service on land and by boat. Swift Water Teams, the police and Northern Ireland Ambulance also helped.
A multi-agency search conducted using illumination flares and also thermal imaging and members of Foyle Search and Rescue and the Police Service of Northern Ireland located the person in distress who was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Thanks were sent to all emergency service personnel involved in the rescue.
