Parachute flares have been used to light the water in a nighttime search for two people in the waters of the Isle of Wight.

Coastguard and Cowes RNLI teams searched near Ryde Pier after concerns that there were a person or people in the water with the help of two parachute flares. The police and Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and paramedics also attended.

Two men emerged from the sea and were checked by paramedics.
