How to test and fit Light & Smoke lights
17/05/2020
It has been brought to our attention that some Light & Smoke Signal lights are not working when distributors conduct their Goods Inwards inspections.
However, we do not find these faults prior to despatch, where every light is tested before being packed.
We are therefore advising distributors of how to properly test and fit the lights and would like them to pass this advice onto their customers and ships, says Product & Customer Service Manager, Keith Bradford.
This is how to test Light & Smoke Signal lights:
Occasionally, the light needs a ‘sharp shake’, rather than just being turned over, to free up the magnet that slides along a tube to turn the light on and off.
It is also vital to remove and re-insert the metal transit pin holding the light vertically – not at an angle or horizontally. Details are in our Instruction leaflets.
If there is still an issue with a light, like any complaint, the customer should report it along with the cause, DOM and LOT number and we will raise a CC file and take the necessary corrective actions.
Distributors can also buy spare lights for stock.
