Flares light water in early morning sea rescue

Flares were used to light the water and help rescue a missing person in Cumbria, UK in a sea rescue.
In a multi-agency response, Furness Coastguard, RNLI’s Barrow Lifeboat Station crew, Millom Coastguard Rescue Team, Duddon Inshore-rescue and Ulverston Inshore Rescue were asked to assist Cumbria police and the fire and rescue service. The search at Walney Island, early one April morning, featured flares to light the water, reports Furness Coastguard on Facebook.
The inshore lifeboat Vision of Tamworth and the all-weather lifeboat Grace Dixon were launched. Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 936 from Caernarfon also assisted. Millom Coastguard Rescue Team, Duddon Inshore-rescue and Ulverston Inshore Rescue were also asked to assist.
The woman was found on the beach and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Furness Coastguard says the rescue was “another great example of multi-agency work between all the emergency services with a positive outcome.”
