Flares help save two lives in tragic boat collision

Two people have been saved after flares helped alert rescuers to a boat collision on Lake Erie in which one person tragically died and one is missing.
A good Samaritan alerted emergency services to the two-boat collision near Cranberry Creek, Huron Township, Michigan after seeing two flares. The incident took place one night in November.
When rescuers arrived, they found three men in the water and they were taken to the shore Two of them were taken to hospital, says Erie County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Trevor Harlow. The other sadly passed away.
An extensive search was conducted for the missing person involving a helicopter, air and water teams.
An investigation into the collision is being carried out. Both boats, a GLS 195 Sea Nymph and a 1000BR Galaxy, were recovered.
