Flares fired in nighttime search for missing person

A missing person was found after flares were fired off the Teignmouth coast, in Devon.
It was believed the missing man was by the water, so the RNLI, Coastguard and other agencies searched the area. More craft were called in and flares fired to light the area and aid the search. The man was subsequently found inland.
Teignmouth RNLI reported on Facebook, “The volunteer lifeboat crew launched both the Atlantic 85 and Arancia lifeboats on Friday, 2 October 2020 in response to a report of a missing person.
“The crew aboard the Atlantic 85 undertook a shoreline search in Teignmouth whilst crew on the Arancia searched the river Teign. The Exmouth all-weather lifeboat, search and rescue helicopter and Coastguard team were also involved in the search.
“The casualty was located by police and the crew were stood down and returned safely to station.”
