Flares fired In nighttime Oregon rescue

White parachute flares lit up the coast in the search for a boat stuck on an inlet bar in Oregon.
United States Coast Guards from Station Oregon were called to help the 22-foot boat outside Oregon Inlet bar.
Occasional six-foot breaking waves and zero visibility hampered the search, so the crew used several white parachute flares to light up the bar so that approaching waves could be seen.
One lifeboat escorted the vessel, while another was on the opposite side of the bar acting as a light beacon to help direct the vessel.
