Flares fired after RIB breakdown

Four people in a broken down Rigid Inflatable Boat have been rescued in Scotland by RNLI crew after firing flares.

They dropped anchor and sent up a distress flare after the RIB sufferered a sudden engine failure in Hoy Sound west of Graemsay one afternoon in February.
The crew of Violet Dorothy and Kathleen went to help and towed the RIB back to the marina.
Stromness RNLI says, “This is a very difficult spot for a small boat, with strong tidal currents. They dropped their anchor and let off flares. The lifeboat soon had them under tow and back on the marina in under an hour.”
