A flare led rescuers to injured fishermen after their boat had an accident in fog in California, USA.
Redondo Beach Fire, Los Angeles County lifeguards, the Coast Guard and other rescue teams searched for the vessel off Redondo Beach following a 911 call.
A flare led the teams to change direction and locate the boat in heavy fog near the Point Vicente Lighthouse, says the Redondo Beach Fire Department. Inside the small fishing boat were five injured fishermen. Two had critical injuries and three minor injuries and they were taken to hospital.
The boat had been in a “significant accident” after possibly straying into busy shipping lanes. It was taking on water, says the Fire Department. The incident is being investigated.
