Flare guides Coastguard helicopter in Scottish mountain rescue

A climber hit by a falling rock on a Scottish mountain was airlifted by a Coastguard helicopter guided by flares.
Braemar and Aberdeen Mountain Rescue teams were called to help the climber. He was on the 3,927-foot Beinn a’Bhuird, in the Cairngorms.
The walker was hit by a falling rock on the Garbh Choire on Beinn a’Bhuird one day in May.
The Coastguard helicopter HMCG R151 was guided in by a flare lit by a mountain rescue team member. The casualty was winched aboard to gain medical treatment.
A Facebook post by Braemar Mountain Rescue says, “Team out today for a climber injured by a falling rock in the Garbh Choire on Beinn a’Bhuird earlier today. Thanks to Coastguard Rescue 151 for winching the casualty on board and dropping off and uplifting the troops, thanks also to Aberdeen MRT for turning out, we wish the casualty a speedy recovery.”
