Five people and dog rescued after sending up flare

Five people and a dog have been rescued off the Devon coast after sending up a flare when their boat engine failed.
The 24-foot yacht began drifting one night in September after its inboard engine broke. In addition, the outboard motor fell into the sea while the crew attempted to start it.
The five lit a red flare and RNLI Appledore’s Inshore lifeboat, which has just returned from a training exercise, launched, located and rescued the five people and the dog and towed the yacht to its mooring.
