A family aboard a disabled vessel in Florida fired flares to alert rescuers.
Miami Beach Fire Rescue saved the family of four after it was stranded for two hours, reports the fire rescue service’s Twitter feed. The crew then safely took the family to a nearby marina.
A bystander noticed the flares and also contacted the emergency services, says the fire rescue service.
