Family fires red flare after RIB engine problems

A family on a Rigid Inflatable Boat with a damaged engine on the south coast fired a red flare to summon help.
Bembridge RNLI’s Inshore Lifeboat Norman Harvey launched at the request of Solent Coastguard. It was asked to help the 7-metre RIB that had badly damaged the bottom of its outboard engine.
The crew reached the RIB, close to Bembridge Ledge Cardinal Mark and found two adults and three children on board, according to Bembridge RNLI Facebook’s page.
The family had travelled from Southampton. They believed the bottom end of the engine had been damaged after hitting the Bembridge Ledge rocks. The RIB was safely towed to Bembridge Harbour.
