Crashed pilot rescued after firing flare

The pilot of a small plane which crashed in Guyana has been rescued after firing a flare.
Members of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Special Forces went overland to the crash site and rescued pilot, Bernard Singh.
After the plane crashed just after take office from Aricheng Airstrip, in Cuyuni-Mazaruni, Mr Singh climbed a tree and used a flare to attract search and rescue personnel, reports newsroom.gy.
The Piper PA Cherokee Six aircraft was on its way to Ekereku Airport, around 50km to the west. The pilot was reported to have minor injuries. According to an Aviation Safety Network report the aircraft was transporting fuel.
An emergency locator signal was received from the Search And Rescue Satellite Aided Tracking (SARSAT) System in Panama, says the Air Traffic Services at Timehri.
The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has begun an investigation into the crash.
