Flares help in rescue of boaters in water

Flares helped narrow a search area in the rescue of four people in the water for 45 minutes after their boat sank near Port Hardy, British Columbia, in Canada.
The 25-foot boat took on water in two-metre waves at Queen Charlotte Strait one night in January.
Flares and a VHF radio helped MV Coastal Server, which was in the area, narrow down the location of the vessel before the coast guard took over.
Coast guard personnel found the four people, who were treated for hypothermia and took them ashore.
