RNLI uses white flares in Cornwall rescue

RNLI crew members fired two white flares to locate a rigid inflatable boat that had lost power off Cornwall.
Late one August night, the lifeboat Rose from Lizard RNLI was launched to assist the single crew member on board the 18ft-long RIB that was helplessly drifting near Polbream Cove, at Lizard Point.
When the boat was spotted after the white flares were fired, a rope was attached and the RIB was towed to Polpeor Cove at Lizard Point, according to the Lizard RNLI Lifeboat Station Facebook page.
Two local fishermen helped transfer it from the water and on to its trailer.
Lizard RNLI thanked all involved in what was the third incident it was called out to over the weekend.
Earlier, the crew rescued three people in difficulty after being swept out by rip tides at Perran Sands, Perranporth.
They also saved two people on an inflatable dinghy who were in difficulty near Cadgwith Cove.
Nationally HM Coastguard dealt with 340 incidents across the whole of the UK on the Saturday. This is the highest single-day callouts for more than years.
HM Coastguard responded to 186, 999 calls. It rescued 146 people and assisted a further 371 people.
