Man spotted after activating flares from beacon

A missing man has been rescued after activating flares from a navigation beacon when his boat ran aground.
The man was found on top of the beacon near Brisbane, Queensland, by the Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter.
Earlier, the 17-metre boat was discovered with just a dog onboard on the northern tip of Bribie Island and a search was begun, reports RACQ Lifeflight.
Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) requested the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter to help. Queensland Police Service (QPS), Coast Guard and Surf Life Saving Queensland were also called upon.
The man fired flares and was spotted on the beacon by a passing ship and he was taken ashore.
