WesCom’s Aurora flares feature in a video guide on Flares and How to Use Them.
The video, filmed in Tasmania, is featured on the local authority website.
It says, “Flares are an essential piece of safety equipment in sheltered and open waters in Tasmania but few boaties know how to use them. Please take some time to look at the video so you have an idea how they work should you get into trouble. Please also read the instructions on your own flares next time you are on the boat.”
The 4.5 minute-long video says flares are one of the most vital pieces of safety equipment on any boat.
Nick Duigan and Andrew Hart of Marine And Safety Tasmania (MAST) show different types of flares. They also demonstrate how to use them.
The MAST video features Aurora flares, Pains Wessex Australia and Comet products. They are supplied by Survitec Group and demonstrates them being fired. They include orange hand smokes, red hand flares and parachute flares.
“If you need help, a well-timed flare will make all the difference,” the video concludes.
